The Proteus 106 sailing catamaran has been re costed with surprising results!
We have been watching with ever larger eyes the rise in the cost of the BS1088 Okoume marine plywood, eventually we have reached the stage that the cost is what may be seen as too high?
Rick in Thailand sailing his own version of the Proteus 106, which has extended transoms with rudders under them. This boat was built from plans and not from a kit.
So we checked the prices and weights of the BS1088 Redwood plys, saw that price wise we were on a winner, then checked with various yacht designers and asked can we use the Redwood plys on their kits?

In the case of the Proteus 106 catamaran, Angelo Lavranos came back and told us that the plys he used for calculations were 10% heavier than the okoume marine, so the Redwood would be fine for his design.
Using a really sharp pencil we work out the plys only kit and with the MDF removable stations panels included, plus the CNC works required on all 121 panels, we can now offer the panels kit for just R98,000 plus Vat for local buyers.
There is no Vat on exports, allow U$9949 for the kit at todays exchange rate (17/09/2013)
Plans are extra and cost NZ$4300 which are supplied direct from the designer.
