Galileo Design 2510
I took this image yesterday in Newport of Galileo. This powerful world cruising ketch was built by Palmer Johnson and launched in 1989. The interior design was by John Munford, now retired. At the time of her launch she was the largest aluminum sailboat to be built in the United States since the 1930s.
Here's the general arrangement plan.
The greatest thing about these big old motorsailers is the interaction between indoor space (pilothouse) and outdoor space (cockpit) as can be seen in this image.

The boat underwent a major refit in 2006, seen here. Seeing her inside a shed gives some sense of scale.
We designed a "soft patch" into the house top and main salon sole. This is a section of aluminum that can be removed by cutting with a torch without disrupting wiring, piping and so forth. The intent is to facilitate future engine or equipment replacement. Here's a new generator going in through the soft patch during her refit. Once finished the patch is simply welded shut, re-faired and painted.
